Who is Karla Hernandez?
I am originally from Mexico and I have a degree in Petroleum Engineering. I arrived in Canada, all by myself, 3 years ago. I did not speak French when I arrived in Quebec. Since the first day, I was warmly welcomed by the Quebecers, but also by the Ben-Mor team. My dream is to one day travel to Italy.
One word to describe you.
Persevering. I went through many obstacles to get to where I am today. The language barrier, being in a completely different environment and working hard to achieve my goals. Curious. I love to learn and this has somehow allowed me to learn French quickly.
What do you like most about working at Ben-Mor?
The people around me. Everyone is very open-minded, they are there to help us, but the most important thing I find is that they listen. I have never had such a pleasant work environment anywhere else. I feel very fortunate to work for this company.
Can you share a fact about yourself that no one knows?
When I came to Ben-Mor with my resume, I didn't speak or understand any French. I met Benoit Frappier at that time. The funny thing about that meeting was that he tried to explain to me that he was Ben as in Ben-Mor. The second time, when I was coming in for an official interview, Benoit ran into me and wondered if I enjoyed working here without knowing I was here for an interview. He told me that human resources had better hire me with a humorous tone. I am very grateful to Benoit and the Ben-Mor team for welcoming me into this great family.
